Tired of the everyday routine? Ever dream of a life of action and adventure? Want to get away from it all? Raconteur Radio’s staged presentations are designed to free you from the four walls of today for an hour of thrilling suspense, brave deed, and rollicking derring-do!

Raconteur Radio stages theatrical presentations of vintage and original radio plays (and pop culture parodies) for live audiences in a variety of venues throughout the Tri-State area: libraries, adult communities, senior centers, community/cultural centers, restaurants, bars, high schools, grammar schools, and, on occasion, private homes.

To book a performance by Raconteur Radio, please contact raconteurbooks@gmail.com. Clients may select a play from any past/upcoming performances (listed below).  In certain instances, clients may also suggest titles themselves (to meet specific thematic or seasonal needs).

Raconteur Radio Productions are staged around (and amplified by) a standing, fully functioning, art deco "fat boy" and feature theatrical lighting, costumes, and extensive sound effects. Productions require an 8' X 10' cleared space at the head of a dark room, four or five chairs, and a minimum of twenty minutes to set up.

Past stagings include Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea; The Great Gatsby; The Wizard of Menlo Park; Sunset Boulevard; The Time Machine; A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court; Casablanca; Sherlock Holmes & The Final Problem; The Third Man; Sorry, Wrong Number; The Abominable Snowman; The Most Dangerous Game; The Man Who Would Be King; Moby Dick, Or The Whale; The Wizard of Oz; The Invisible Man; A Christmas Carol; The War of the Worlds, The Hitchiker (featuring Michael Nathanson, star of the 2012 Oscar nominated sci-fi short, Time Freak, and Steven Soderbergh's final film, Side Effects); and Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel (featuring Welcome Back Kotter's Bobby Hegyes in the role of Chico Marx).

Raconteur Radio debuts a new show every month at their home theater, the Old Franklin School, a historic one-room school house built in 1807.  The schoolhouse is located at 461 Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen.

Upcoming productions include The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood; Flash Gordon on the Planet Mongo; Gaslight; Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde; The Legend of Sleepy Hollow; Lord Jim; Lawrence of Arabia; Sherlock Holmes & The Hound of the Baskervilles; Rob Roy; The Scarlet Pimpernel; Pygmalion; Professor Challenger & The Lost World; The Rime of the Ancient Mariner; Jane Eyre; James Joyce's The Dead; Henry V; and Alice in Wonderland.
